Greg Fraser of Dade Loft talks work, style, and inspiration.

Greg Fraser is one half of the duo behind Dade Loft, a boutique design firm meets art gallery meets retail space that offers a shopping experience unlike any other in Calgary. Housed in a three-floor lofted space, Dade Loft is set up like a fully functioning home where guests can find thoughtfully curated collections of furniture and decor from around the world in every room. Greg’s unique outlook, out-of-the-box creativity, and bold personality are contagious and just a few sources of inspiration for Adesso. We wanted to learn even more about Greg, so we sat down for a quick chat about work, style, and inspiration.

What three things do you need to make it through the day? I’m really good at sleeping. It would definitely be my claim to fame. I also work out at least five times a week, and although I don’t want to admit it, my phone is definitely a daily necessity.
.
How would you describe your personal style and what are a few of your favourite brands? My personal style can be summed up in two words: curated and eccentric. I like bright colours and unconventional cuts and dressing up when the occasion calls for it. I wear a lot of Mr. Turk, which you can find at Dade Loft, and find a lot of my accessories at Adesso.
.
What are your biggest fashion guilty pleasures? I have a pair of black Uggs that I wear like slippers. They don’t get to leave the house.
What are the core values that guide you through life? Authenticity and uniqueness. I am always trying to support other entrepreneurs and creators. That community is very important to me because I really value original and creative ideas.
.
Running your own business means you never really get to turn off. How do you stay motivated? Being inspired motivates me, so the two are basically one and the same. I find inspiration through traveling, social media, and everyday life — whether it’s something someone says or something I see online. My projects and my clients are also huge sources of inspiration for me.
.
What is on your to-do list for the upcoming year? My partner and I are starting the journey to adopt a child. Right now we are in the research phase of the whole process. A trip to Europe in the fall time is another major goal for the year, and so is starting to swim again.
.
It can be hard to separate your personal life from your work life, but what would your ideal day off look like? Well for starters I would be on vacation. That’s always the first step to a great day off. I would sleep in, eat a nice brunch, and spend some time exploring before an afternoon nap. The evening would consist of cocktails, a classic gin and tonic is my favourite, and a nice dinner.
