Everything You Need to Know About our Charity of the Month: Classroom Champions

When Classroom Champions approached us to collaborate on a limited-edition collection of socks, we said yes immediately. Education equity is a goal that is very near and dear to the entire Adesso team, and we truly believe the only way to achieve it is by coming together as a community to find diverse solutions. By ensuring equity in our education system, we can help all students achieve excellence, regardless of their background or personal circumstances, and raise a generation of leaders.

WHAT IS CLASSROOM CHAMPIONS?

Founded by Olympian Steve Mesler and Dr. Leigh Parise in 2009, Classroom Champions provides amazing people and resources to teachers to support student mental health, wellness, and academic achievement. By connecting underserved students with incredible athletes, educators, and world-class mentors, they teach kids how to focus and make decisions while providing them with a sense of belonging so they can shine in and out of school. Over the last ten years, Classroom Champions' programming has reached over 25,000 students across North America, and this Wednesday, Shaw Communications donated $720,000. This funding will allow 6,000 students and 150 teachers from across the Surrey school district to engage with Olympians and Paralympians through the Classroom Champions mentorship program!

CLASSROOM CHAMPIONS' IMPACT

We all know how significant a classroom environment is on the well-being and success of students. When students can learn in a supportive, inspiring, and well-structured environment without worrying about fitting in or being bullied, they can focus on their dreams, goals, and academic success. In addition to a mentorship program, Classroom Champions also donates a substantial amount of technology to the partnering schools.

THE ADESSO X CLASSROOM CHAMPION COLLABORATION

We understand first hand the impact a meaningful relationship with a role model has on a kid. When they realize how much their teachers and mentors care about them, a connection unlike any other is formed. We wouldn't have been able to pursue our entrepreneurial dreams without the endless support from our community, and we are honoured to be able to partner with Classroom Champions and give back! We worked with fourteen different athletes, mentors, educators, or supporters of Classroom Champions to design a pair of socks that reflects their interests and passions. Every dollar from your purchase goes directly towards bringing more incredible mentors to kids across Canada and the United States.
