Tony McGrath, CEO of The GRAND theatre, talks life, love, and happiness
In December of last year, Tony McGrath was appointed CEO of Calgary's oldest theatre, The GRAND. On top of a budding modeling career with Mode Models, Tony is handling the theatre's day-to-day management and rebranding, focusing on new and innovative ways to make it an active space for Calgary's flourishing arts scene! Next Friday, The GRAND will be bringing back the city's most infamous party, The Alley Party, for a night of fashion, art, and music and you can bet #adessoman will be there.
Tony's energetic spirit and witty charm are contagious. When he isn't working, you can find him playing a game of soccer, hiking, or hitting the road for a weekend getaway with his wife and three rescue dogs. We wanted to learn more about his optimistic soul and style inspiration so we paid him a visit.
With so much on the go, your days must get pretty hectic. How do you stay optimistic through times of stress?
I refer to it as HALT – never get hungry, angry, lonely or tired. I turn to prayer and meditation to relax.
How would you describe your personal style and what are your go-to shopping spots?
My personal style is completely my own but I guess you could categorize it as Dublin street style, maybe. I like shopping at the GAP, independent thrift stores, the Clothesline Brooks, and anywhere that carries John Varvatos.
What does it mean to be your true, authentic self?
I find the older I get, the more I get to say no to things I don’t want to do. For me, that’s being my true authentic self.
What core values shape your life?
Love, honesty, and family.
What are your top three tips for living the best life you possibly can?
Embrace uncertainty, find your community and love unconditionally
