Elliott Geskin of the Art of Strategy talks Relationships, Life Goals, and Fashion Faux Pas
Simply put, Elliott Geskin loves people. For him to be happy and thriving, the people around him also need to be happy and thriving. Thankfully, he is a great problem solver! For twenty years, Geskin worked in real estate and land development but he recently left behind the corporate world to pursue his passion. After putting in hundreds of hours to complete his practicum, Geskin received his official coaching designation and is now helping couples across the province mend their relationships at the Art of Strategy, where his wife, Alison, consults with local business owners.
With his new career underway, Elliott has been transitioning his style from formal business attire to a more relaxed, casual vibe. An #adessoman supporter since day one, we've had a lot of fun helping him find the perfect accessories to pair with his new looks and learning more about his personal style! But we wanted to dive in and learn even more about Elliott and his heart of gold so we sat down to talk relationships, life goals, and his number one fashion faux pas.
What three things do you need to make it through the day?
I need the people around me to be happy, I need to be focused, and I need a list. I can’t make it through the day without one.
How would you describe your personal style and what are your go-to shopping spots?
It’s classic yet casual. My go-to shopping spots are Forman Menswear, Harry Rosen, Tommy Bahama, Holt Renfrew, and Adesso — their style is totally unique to Calgary, and I love being able to find pieces that you can’t find anywhere else. I also love the European flair that their accessories have.
What are your personal fashion no-nos? and what are your favourite pieces?
I don’t wear anything with horizontal stripes. That’s a big fashion no-no for me. One of my favourite pieces to wear is my bright pink Gucci button-up shirt — pink and purple are my favourite colours. I’m also a big fan of watches, I don’t know how to fix them but I love collecting them.
Where do you turn for inspiration?
My wife Alison is my biggest inspiration. We have been married for 28 years and I am absolutely amazed at how positive she has been throughout it all. Her drive, and the positivity she brings to my life and everyone around us, motivates me every day.
What three core values shape your life and the decisions you make?
Being direct, striving to do my absolute best, and always looking for answers and solutions.
Last question! What are your goals for the upcoming year?
To keep getting in better shape. I play tennis five days a week and I'm excited to see how I will continue to progress over the next year. I also want to continue being productive and growing my network. And finally, to keep on pushing.
